Strut Tower Speaker Stand

I designed these speaker stands to minimize the amount of space they occupy on a desk as well as maximize stability without bulk. The resultant design consists of a platform upon which a speaker sits supported by three steel struts each mounted to the edge of a desk with countersunk screws.

The forward struts are angled inward and the front and rear struts are angled outward to increase stability. The top platform is triangular with the front-facing edge made thicker to resist buckling from compression, and the other two edges thinner as they are loaded in tension.

The speaker platform is rotated to a 30° offset from the rear edge of the desk to point the speaker at the listener.
